Cedar Knolls, NJ (September 2008) - P.G. Chambers School Golf Classic Committee along with Chairperson, Eric Monsen of Monsen Engineering, raised over $100,000 on Monday, September 15 at the school’s 5th Annual Golf Classic held at Essex Fells Country Club. Proceeds from the tournament will support the school’s Early Intervention Program. Over 85 golfers took to the greens on a warm sunny day for 18 holes of golf followed by a dinner reception and spirited live auction.
Early intervention identifies and helps very young children with disabilities and their families. There is currently a significant gap between the actual cost of services and the amount of funding available. Families pay for services on a sliding fee scale, however no child is denied service at P.G. Chambers School Early Intervention Program because of a families’ inability to pay. Fundraising is a critical component to the school’s ability to provide these services.
At the Awards Dinner, P.G. Chambers School parent. Anthony Bonanno, praised P.G. Chambers School for the help that his daughter, Serena, now in kindergarten, receives at the school. “When you first learn that your new baby has significant problems, you just don’t know where to turn. The teachers and therapists at the school have helped our family in so many ways, not just for Serena and her program, but just as importantly they gave us hope.”
Major sponsors for the event were Monsen Engineering Company, Kim and Finn Wentworth, Thermal Service of N.J., Specialized Fire & Security Inc., MCJ Amelior Foundation, David and Rose Nakamura, Morris Associates, Construction Technology, Patti and Ray Chambers, The Mehta Family, Cathy and Jeff Walsh, The Mehta Family and The Glenmede Trust Company. The school is grateful to more than 40 other community businesses and individuals who provided sponsorships and donations.
