P.G. Chambers School To Host 2008 Golf Classic
Local corporations and residents TEE OFF to benefit children with special needs at the 5th Annual Golf Classic at Essex Fells Country Club

Cedar Knolls, NJ (September 2008) - On September 15, on what promises to be a fantastic fall day, 90 golfers will take to the greens at Essex Fells Country Club for a very special event that has become a yearly tradition for the P.G. Chambers School. For the past five years, P.G. Chambers School trustees, parents, and community members have joined together to help more than 600 children with special needs and their families who come to the school each year from a ten counties in northern New Jersey.

This year, proceeds from the 2008 Golf Classic will support the school’s Early Intervention Program. Through identifying and helping children with disabilities when they are very young babies, many of them grow, learn, and develop skills much more successfully than children with disabilities who do not have early intervention services. These programs, funded partially through public funds, are critically important, and yet, are virtually the most underfunded program that the school provides for children and families. Proceeds from the Golf Classic will go towards closing the significant gap between the actual cost of services and the amount of funding available.

The 2008 Golf Classic committee is chaired by Eric Monsen, Vice President of Monsen Engineering Company and P.G. Chambers’s trustee, along with other trustees, business leaders, and parents including Tom Baio, Renee Gitto, Bill Haskel, Charlie Hutchinson, Janet Kutzman, Pavan Mehta, David Nakamura, Andrea Quigley, Hal Sass, Darren Siker, Susan Seamans and Tom Walsh.

The golf format will feature tournament-style; four-player teams flighted by each team’s combined handicap in an 18-hole net best team ball. Registration and lunch begins at 11:00 am with a 12:00 pm shotgun start. The winning teams from each flight will compete in a sudden death playoff at 5:30 pm to crown the tournament champions. Major sponsors for the event are Monsen Engineering Company, Kim and Finn Wentworth, Thermal Service of N.J., Specialized Fire & Security Inc., MCJ Amelior Foundation, David and Rose Nakamura, Construction Technology, Patti and Ray Chambers, The Mehta Family, Cathy and Jeff Walsh and The Glenmede Trust Company. The School is grateful to more than 40 other community businesses and individuals who have provided additional sponsorships and donations. The day will end with a cocktail reception, dinner, and exciting auction offerings, including several golf packages at sought-after New Jersey courses and one-of-a-kind artwork created by the children of P.G. Chambers School.
