P.G Chambers School Presents 'Menus for the Mind
Featured Speaker Lisa Ling
Cedar Knolls, NJ (October 20, 2006) – Lisa Ling, former host of ABC's The View and current host of National Geographic's Explorer, will be the featured speaker at the P.G. Chambers School Menus for the Mind lecture luncheon on Thursday, November 2. This community-wide fundraising event will be held at The Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, NJ from 11:30am to 2:00pm.
Whether it was divulging bold opinions from her seat along side Barbara Walters or doing investigative journalism from exotic, and sometimes dangerous, locations around the world, Lisa Ling has explored some of today's most significant issues and current events. Now from behind the lectern, Lisa Ling will share insight she has gained from these 13 years of experiences in front of the camera along with stories from behind the compelling book she recently co-authored, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Bride.
This 'Menus for the Mind' lecture luncheon is the first of an annual two-part series hosted by P.G. Chambers School, a non-profit organization that provides programs for more than 600 children with special needs from nine counties across northern New Jersey. These services include comprehensive early intervention programs, special education classes, physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions, and specialized services such as sensory integration therapy and augmentative communication assistance.
Over the years, the 'Menus for the Mind' Lecture Luncheons have met with much success, attracting approximately 350 participants and much support from local businesses. Now in its twelfth season, the goal for the upcoming event is to raise $70,000 to support the school's Early Intervention Program for Infants and Toddlers, a program that provides instruction and therapy for infants with developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, autism, and birth defects.
The cost of attending the two-part series, which also features Dr. Joy Brown on May 3, 2007 is $260. Individual luncheon tickets can be purchased in advance for $135 ($45 of which is tax deductible). New to the event this year is the option for attendees to take part in a private reception with our guest speakers prior to the luncheon for an additional $50. Please call P.G. Chambers School at 973-829-8484 to make reservations or obtain more information.
