Unjeria C. Jackson, MD, Elected President, P.G.Chambers School Board of Trustees
P.G. Chambers School Board of Trustees announced with great pleasure the election of Unjeria C. Jackson, MD as Board President, effective January 1, 2009. Dr. Jackson, who has served on the board since her appointment in 2006 is an avid supporter of the school and an advocate for children, particularly children with disabilities. Since 2006, Dr. Jackson has served on the school’s strategic planning committee and in 2008 was appointed chair of the development committee. She and her husband, Larry Thompson, have been sponsors of the school’s major special events: Menus for the Mind Lecture Luncheon Series, the Golf Classic, and Concert in the Park.
Dr. Jackson, an obstetrician/gynecologist specializing in material fetal medicine and an emeritus medical staff member at Atlantic Health Systems, served as the attending physician in maternal fetal medicine and practiced for more than 18 years at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Dr. Jackson has contributed to publications on issues related to high-risk pregnancies and continues to work as a special consultant in maternity hospitals and clinics in several states, as well as in our area.
“We have been so very fortunate to have Dr. Jackson as a trustee,” remarked executive director, Susan Seamans, “we are thrilled that she has agreed to serve in this important leadership position, she brings the unique perspective of a kind and compassionate physician to our board, a person who has spent many hours helping delivery babies who are at very high risk for survival.”
Dr. Jackson, a multi-faceted woman with great energy, is an avid collector and dealer of antique teapots, her book, Teapots by Design: A Collectors’ Catalogue, published by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. in 2006, showcases her extraordinary collection. In addition to researching and writing the book, Dr. Jackson also did all of the photography for the catalogue. Unjeria and her husband, Larry, live in Mendham and have four daughter. |
