Early Help Can Make a Difference
P.G. Chambers School's Early Intervention Program provides coordinated services that promote the growth and development of infants and toddlers who have identified special needs or are at risk for developing delays.
Children who are at risk for developmental delays or have a known disability, including children with Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, PDD/Autism, and are under the age of three years are eligible for early intervention services.
Children and parents meet with a specialized team of educators and therapists who evaluate each child and develop an Individual Family Service Plan for treatment. The Early Intervention staff of social workers, special educators, physical and occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists work with both the child and the family, providing parents with the knowledge and skills to help their child grow and develop.
The Goals of Early Intervention Are
- To improve the physical, learning, social and emotional development of each child.
- To provide the foundation for success in school and life.
- To provide support, information and training to families.
- To maximize the child's and family's benefit to society.
- To increase the connections to community resources for each child's family.
P.G. Chambers School also offers integrated developmental playgroups, individual/family counseling and parent support groups as supplemental opportunities for Early Intervention families.
Our Early Intervention Program is funded by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services, F.M. Kirby Foundation, United Way of Morris County, and contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations.
The Early Intervention Program is another example of the Chambers School's family-centered approach to helping each child reach his or her full potential.
