At P.G. Chambers School, the AfterSchool Program offers exciting, enjoyable and educational opportunities for children with and without disabilities from ages 5 to 14 years.
The Program has two distinct components — AfterSchool Club and AfterSchool Specials — both aimed at strengthening social skills, building character and increasing self-awareness and self-esteem.
AfterSchool Club gives children the chance to socialize and play with their peers in a structured and fun environment while enjoying crafts, music, sports, stories, games and other assorted activities. AfterSchool Specials are individual activities, classes and skill-building groups focused on specific interest areas such as computers, art or cooking. These Specials are an opportunity for children to learn new and exciting things while expanding their life skills.
Sports and recreation also provide exciting, healthy opportunities for children to be active and enjoy the team-building spirit of athletic competition. The Chambers School sponsors a number of Recreational Programs designed for children with special needs and of varying ages and abilities. Each provides an opportunity for children to participate in group activities, apply the skills learned in school and therapy, and just have some fun!
Our AfterSchool Program goes beyond the traditionally narrow focus on education and therapy to broaden children's horizons, and provide the long-term tools for independent, integrated living in the community. Our Recreational Program offers special-needs children the Chambers School chance to explore and excel in diverse avenues of life that they can continue to be involved with as active, adult members of the community.
