P.G. Chambers School Physical Therapy ballP.G. Chambers School offers comprehensive physical therapy services for children with special needs and their families at its facility in Cedar Knolls, as well as at area schools and child care centers, and families' homes. Working in collaboration with families, schools, and other healthcare professionals, our pediatric physical therapists help children reach their full potential for functional independence at home, at school and in the community. 

Physical therapy services include evaluation, consultation, and individualized treatment programs to enhance development and empower families.



Physical Therapy Addresses Developmental and
Functional Skills

Pediatric physical therapy includes:

  • Activities to facilitate a developmental progression of gross motor skills.
  • Individualized programs to promote the development of mobility skills.
  • Therapeutic exercises to improve strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
  • Use of adapted equipment, orthoses, and assistive technology to facilitate independence and mobility.
  • Family and child support, as well as education for management of physical disabilities.
  • Instruction in skills important for lifelong fitness and participation in play/ recreational activities.
  • Promotion of health and wellness.



Comprehensive Services Address a Variety of Needs

Specialized services offered by the physical therapy department at P.G. Chambers School include:

  • Adapted Equipment Program to help families address adapted equipment and assistive technology needs.
  • Orthotics Clinic to provide assessment, consultation, and guidance regarding the use of orthoses, braces, and therapeutic taping.
  • Aquatic Physical Therapy Program using the fun environment of a pool to help children achieve their therapy goals.



Experienced Staff Make a Difference

The physical therapists at P.G. Chambers School are licensed professionals with advance education and experience working with children from birth through adolescence. The staff includes physical therapists with training in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) and Certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as Pediatric Clinical Specialists. Physical therapists participate in ongoing educational and professional development activities to provide current, comprehensive and evidence-based physical therapy services.

Our physical therapists are a valuable resource for children with special needs and their families. Working together with families, they help enhance each child's unique skills and abilities, enabling every child to reach his or her full potential.
