Your Child Care Search is Over!

Parents who are looking for the right child care solution for their families have varying needs and requirements and many times finding the right “fit” can be difficult. At Kids Count Child Care, we offer a safe and nurturing environment, where children are valued, supported, and challenged. We work with families to understand each child as an individual, which is just one of the ways that we provide a well-rounded program that puts children first. For many families, this makes Kids Count Child Care the perfect fit!

A caring and committed staff

Our child care staff makes it a priority to learn about each child’s unique capabilties; provide activities that are developmentally appropriate; and establish a foundation for building trust and a sense of well-being.

Many child care programs have frequent staff turnover. Kids Count Child Care works hard to maintain their staff – with impressive results! Carolyn Young has been director of Kids Count since it opened in 1993.  Our infants are lovingly cared for by Nancy, a staff-member for 23 years and Stacy, a staff-member for 16 years. Head Teacher, Christen, has 8 years with the program, and Rachel has been with Kids Count for 3 years. Each member of the Kids Count staff knows every child enrolled in the program and staff members work together to support children as they transition from one classroom to the next. The open concept structure of the facility gives children familiarity with each classroom area and every teacher, while maintaining separation of the groups as appropriate.

Curriculum

Kids Count recognizes that children must leave their child care program prepared for increasing challenges and ready for kindergarten. Our chosen curriculum is The Creative Curriculum, a play-based curriculum that is best suited to meet the emerging needs, abilities, and interests of young children. The curriculum provides the framework upon which experiential, hands-on activities, that are challenging and developmentally sound, are created and implemented.

The activities provided help each child develop a lifelong love of learning. When children graduate from Kids Count Child Care, they are well-prepared for kindergarten, not only academically but socially and emotionally as well.

Giving children time during the day for free choice, unstructured play is of utmost importance in practicing independence, making decisions, and developing social relationships.

Children in our program have twice daily opportunities for outdoor play in our 25,000 sq.ft., fenced-in, learning park and in our two courtyard playgrounds.  During inclement weather, children have use of multiple gym areas, furnished with equipment to facilitate gross motor skill development.

Inclusive care: What does it mean?

As a program of P.G. Chambers School, Kids Count Child Care is uniquely positioned to support and educate some children with developmental disabilities. Our inclusive setting provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to learn from typically developing peers while children without disabilities learn to understand individual differences and accept each person as a valued individual.

*Kids Count Child Care is licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Children and Families. In 2014 Kids Count was selected to participate as a pilot site in the program, Grow NJ Kids. This state-wide quality improvement rating system is designed to create universal standards of quality for all early care and education programs throughout New Jersey.
