P.G. Chambers School Auxiliary: Taking Care of “Our Kids”

5.02.2015     PGCS   No comments

The P.G. Chambers School Auxiliary was founded over thirty-five years ago when a group of dedicated volunteers formed an auxiliary, their mission: to raise funds to support therapy programs for “our kids”: children with disabilities living in Morris County. That small handful of volunteers has blossomed into a dedicated group of over 50 people.

These dedicated women have been spreading goodwill throughout the community since the 1970’s and are still a force to be reckoned with! The Auxiliary fundraising efforts continue throughout the year with mailings, non-events, theater parties, the annual New York City Lights Tour, pie sales, as well as many other exciting and unique projects.

The Auxiliary sponsors an annual summer luncheon for all members to provide the opportunity to come to the school and enjoy a nice lunch, and most importantly, to meet and interact with the students.

Mitzi Szerlip, President of the Auxiliary called the June Luncheon to order by welcoming all who were in attendance. Vice President, Helen Schuyler announced the upcoming Broadway show, “A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder” on October 22nd.  Helen also reported the success of the annual Spring Dessert Sale, which raised $800.00.

Jeanne Nichols, Treasurer, presented Susan Seamans, Executive with a check of $3,000.00. Susan expressed her gratitude for the continued efforts of the Auxiliary that helps the school to go “beyond the tuition” to enable the students of PGCS to reach their full potential.

After the luncheon, the Auxiliary members enjoyed an interactive song and dance by Margey Dwyre-Daily and several of her music students. Let’s just say the colorful scarves were a big hit!

The Auxiliary is recruiting new members to help with their mission of supporting the school and the children. Interested? Contact Jeanne Nichols, PGCS Auxiliary Treasurer at 46 North Star Drive, Morristown, New Jersey 07960 or call the school at 973-829-8484.

To all the dedicated members of the Auxiliary, we thank you for your devotion to and advocacy for P.G. Chambers School.
